Race, gender and sexuality – for minority populations in this country and around the world every positive stride, every ounce of freedom, every quiet moment we are allowed to exist, has been bought by the blood of those who dared revolt against the status quo. Many more than now live died never knowing what it is like to live and love according the measure of our heart and not by the color of our skin or the shape of our bodies. And still fight for basic decency, for all humans to be treated as equals, rages on.
